Steps/KAP (Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy) Treatment Outline
- Begin Psychotherapy: Reach out to Dr. Dae to establish a psychotherapeutic relationship and begin attending psychotherapy sessions.
- Collaborate with Dr. Dae to explore whether KAP could be an appropriate modality to supplement the ongoing psychotherapy work, and if so, Dr. Dae will place a referral to Journey Clinical for you to be evaluated for medical eligibility.
- Attend initial medical consultation visit with a Journey Clinical medical provider to determine if you are eligible for KAP. This visit is conducted via telehealth and includes an initial evaluation and medication prescription for at least 2 dosing sessions at $338/visit.
- If you are determined eligible, you will receive the medication via mail.
- Collaborate with Dr. Dae to schedule KAP, which includes in-person preparation sessions, dosing sessions, and integration sessions. The number of dosing sessions and time between dosing sessions will be determined in collaboration with Dr. Dae.
- Preparation sessions typically occur during 50-minute psychotherapy sessions. Everybody is different and therefore you might want one or multiple preparation sessions. Preparation sessions include answering all questions about ketamine dosing and expectations, honoring comfort practices, reviewing guidelines, and setting intentions for the experience.
- Dosing sessions typically occur over a single 3-hour visit, which allows for enough time to settle in and prepare on the dosing day, take the medicine and engage with the acute effects of the medicine, and begin to process the experience.
- Integration sessions typically occur during 50-minute psychotherapy sessions within one week of the dosing session. Integration will continue to occur during subsequent psychotherapy sessions to process the memories, thoughts, feelings, and insights that arose from the dosing session.
- Follow-up with your Journey Clinical medical provider for ongoing eligibility and to receive additional medication doses; these visits include the follow-up visit and medication prescription for at least 6 dosing sessions at $298/visit.
